KINDERGARTEN FEES: (Includes before/after school program)
- Throughout the years, our Kindergarten has received recognition from area schools regarding our excellence and the advanced placement of students completing our program. It is a full day program including before and after school services as well as the Kindergarten curriculum.
- The rigorous instructional day is 8:30-3:00; children may attend 7:15-5:30.
- The weekly fee is the same as for a full week of preschool - $260, including before/after school care. In addition, there is a $300 registration/material fee that is non-refundable.
- We are unable to offer any discounts for multiple children in the Kindergarten program.
- We do not follow the Millcreek School calendar; we are open every day except for the specific days noted on your annual and monthly calendar also found in the monthly newsletter.
- We do require payment for the week between Christmas and New Year as we do provide care for our Kindergarten students that week.
- Payment is required regardless of attendance.
- Children begin their Kindergarten experience in June, but may attend half of their current schedule for the summer or a minimum of two days. However, children attending five full days in the summer receive priority for enrollment.
- Since the class size is limited to 12, it is critical to be placed on the waiting list as early as possible.
South Hills' Kindergarten curriculum emphasizes literacy, math, writing skills, social studies, multiculturalism, science, motor skills, computer, and sign language. Two certified teachers conduct the reading and math groups for individualized attention to each of the 12 students' skills.
The Kindergarten students participate in several special activities throughout the school year, including the writing, illustrating and publishing of their annual yearbook, "The Koala Bear." In April and May, the students are involved in the "The Young Authors Project." Following an in-depth study of how books are written, illustrated, and published, the students author and illustrate their own hard cover books, complete with author biography.
Public and parochial school feedback reveals that South Hills Kindergarten students demonstrate strong leadership qualities, confidence and high academic performance in elementary school.
The Kindergarten class is limited to 12 students. Preference is given to South Hills' full day preschool students. Due to the length of the waiting list, parents are encouraged to place their child's name on the waiting list as early as possible (age 3 is not too early). Enrollment takes place in December prior to the next school year.
Our Kindergarten is a full day program including child care services before/after school as well as the Kindergarten curriculum. The instructional day is 8:45-3:00, but children can attend 7:15-5:30.
